Michael Massimino serves as Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of MB Financial Group, bringing more than two decades of experience in real estate investment, development, construction, finance, and asset management throughout New England.
Throughout his career, Michael has been responsible for the development of more than 4,000 multifamily residential units and 2 million square feet of commercial real estate. His experience spans the full real estate lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and acquiring properties to arranging capital, overseeing development and construction, and managing assets for long-term value.
Michael brings a hands-on, value-added approach to complex real estate projects. His work encompasses ground-up development, property repositioning, and adaptive reuse, combining construction expertise with investment strategy and an understanding of debt and equity financing. He has built relationships with investors, lenders, municipalities, and industry professionals to advance challenging projects and unlock their potential.
As CEO, Michael guides MB Financial Group’s investment strategy, capital partnerships, and operating businesses. His leadership connects development, construction, financing, property management, and brokerage, with an emphasis on disciplined execution, accountability, and sustainable growth.
Beyond his professional work, Michael is committed to giving back through philanthropy. He supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and charitable efforts that assist children and families in need, reflecting his belief in helping others and strengthening the communities he serves.
Michael studied in the Construction Management bachelor’s degree program at Wentworth Institute of Technology and in New York University’s undergraduate Real Estate program, offered through the School of Professional Studies’ Schack Institute of Real Estate.
Meet Antonio Liguori, the Chief Investment Officer of MB Financial, bringing a wealth of expertise in finance and real estate to the team. Antonio’s journey began with academic excellence, graduating from Fairfield University with degrees in Finance, Economics, and Operations Management. He further honed his skills by obtaining an MBA in International Finance.
Early in his career, Antonio showcased his analytical prowess and managerial acumen while working for a large private hedge fund. His ventures expanded into real estate investments, focusing on land entitlements, multifamily, and commercial properties. With a multifaceted background, Antonio transitioned seamlessly into real estate brokerage, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing company operations and driving growth strategies.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Antonio has a passion for sharing economic insights through writing articles. In his spare time, he finds joy in hitting the golf course and sharing laughter with friends. However, his greatest source of pride and happiness stems from being a devoted father to his wonderful daughter and son.

Edwin Garces serves as Chief Financial Officer of MB Financial Group, bringing 30 years of experience in accounting, financial management, and operational systems within the construction industry. He provides the leadership team with reliable financial reporting and analysis, supporting informed decisions through budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and process improvement.
Throughout his career, Edwin has held senior financial leadership positions with companies operating across the Northeast. His experience includes serving as CFO for a multistate telecommunications site development and consulting firm, as well as Financial Controller and CFO for a large mechanical contractor specializing in mechanical and fire protection systems. Earlier in his career, he served as Controller for a site work construction company and as a Senior Accountant in public accounting, working extensively with construction clients.
Edwin brings a strong command of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, cost accounting, and financial planning. He combines a hands-on approach with extensive knowledge of financial technology, including Microsoft Excel and enterprise accounting platforms such as Sage Timberline, Microsoft Dynamics, Viewpoint, and Spectrum. His experience implementing accounting systems and developing policies and procedures supports greater efficiency, consistency, and financial visibility.
Edwin holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Cost Accounting. He values integrity, perseverance, and collaboration, with a focus on strengthening business operations and building effective teams. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Saira, and their two children.
Timothy M. Herbst serves as General Counsel of MB Financial Group, where he provides legal and strategic counsel across the firm’s real estate investment, development, construction, asset management, and related business activities. His practice and professional background span land use and zoning, environmental law, municipal law, real estate transactions, regulatory matters, and government affairs.
Tim has extensive experience representing developers, companies, property owners, citizens, and civic organizations before land use and regulatory boards throughout Connecticut. His work has involved complex applications including zone changes, special permits, site plan approvals, historic reviews, and environmental and wetlands approvals. He has also represented buyers and sellers in a wide range of commercial and residential real estate transactions.
Prior to joining MB Financial Group, Tim developed a distinguished background in both private legal practice and public service. He served 19 years in government, including eight years as First Selectman of Trumbull, Connecticut. First elected at age 29, Tim served as the town’s chief executive officer from 2009 through 2017, overseeing municipal operations, managing an approximately $180 million budget, and supervising 255 employees.
During his tenure, his administration implemented pension and debt reforms, negotiated multiple collective bargaining agreements, advanced long-term capital planning, and worked with local, regional, and state partners on economic development, infrastructure, and municipal initiatives. Trumbull also received two credit-rating upgrades during his administration.
Tim previously served as Chairman of the Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (METROCOG), a regional planning organization representing six municipalities. In that capacity, he participated in regional initiatives involving transportation, land use, economic development, housing, environmental planning, and intermunicipal cooperation.
Tim earned his B.A., with honors, from Trinity College in 2002, where he served as student body president. He received his J.D. from Pace University School of Law in 2007 and was a member of the Pace Environmental Law Review.
In addition to practicing law, Tim is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Connecticut. His combination of legal, real estate, land-use, governmental, and executive experience provides MB Financial Group with an integrated perspective on the regulatory, transactional, and strategic considerations involved in complex real estate investment and development.
